Staying positive

Today I briefly overheard a conversation between a couple people I don't know at all.  And a quote from Albert Einstein came to mind

Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds...

The conversation had no point.  There was no real substance to it, but I heard two people take the time to slander another person, which really got me thinking.

What is the point?  What's the point of talking about other people in a negative way?  When you hear people talking about someone else, do you join in on the "fun", or does it bother you?   It sure doesn't make me think well of the people talking, or make me feel like I can even trust them.   Do you try to avoid getting involved or leave?  A million questions start running through my mind.

What ever happened to building people?  People being positive about each other?  I know that a kite rises against the wind, but what's wrong with sticking the darn kite in the sky and telling it to stay up there because you know it can??  LOL

Ahhhhhh such is life.  I guess if we never had to deal with negative things, we would take the positive things for granted!  I'm grateful for my trials :)  I guess!

Just stay positive!!  That's the best we can all do because we deserve to be happy, and dang it, we are GOING TO BE!

xoxo Christy

Our Bishop's Challenge

Our Bishop gave a pretty awesome talk on Sunday, not one you would expect to hear.  It was about health and getting in shape and how your physical fitness can effect our spirits.  I've never really put those two things together.  But I do want to share part of his talk that was pretty funny, and then the challenge that he gave us.

During part of his talk he mentioned he sees vehicles driving down the road that say "26.2" on them, meaning they are marathon runners.  Well, one particular vehicle that he saw said "I do 26.2" and he thought to himself "There's a marathon runner"  He got closer and stopped near the vehicle at the light, and realized that it said "I do 26.2... Oreos per quart of milk"

He issued a challenge to our ward, in which I'm going to participate

1.  Read the Book of Mormon as a family by July 24
2.  Attend the temple more, as it permits within your circumstances.
3.  Exercise on a regular basis
4.  Enter the Spanish Spaniard on July 24 (it's a 10K, or 6.2 miles)

Well, I'm up for the challenge.  I'm not going to be in town on July 24, so I'm not going to be able to enter the 10K, BUT I have set a goal to be able to run 6.2 miles by then.  And for me, that a LOT!!! I've never been able to run a mile in my life, even when I was at my fittest stage in life.  So there will be a large mental block for me to surpass in order for that to happen.

If anyone else is up for the challenge, let me know!  I'm going to be walking in the morning, and sometimes in the evening.  It was good to see some of our ward members following what the Bishop counselled this morning!  My husband, who is definitely not someone who wakes up easily in the morning, actually got up and ran.

I'm going to do my very best to do as the bishop says, and to add some more temple, scriptures, and exercise in my life!

The Kinster is growing!

First off I want to tell Janice THANK YOU! These pictures you took of McKinlee turned out awesome! I was in Henrieville a couple weeks ago, and Janice and I swapped pictures. I wish Kendrick could have been there but he was traveling. We are definitely going to do this again sometime Janice!! If you want to see more of her awesome pictures, go here

She is in the Garfield County area and does spectacular work!

Henrieville was a blast! Kendrick was on business in Toronto so I finally got to go and see my family in Henrieville. I hardly get to see them enough that's for sure! My dad took McKinlee on 4-wheeler rides every day and cooked me eggs for breakfast. Why is it that when someone else cooks for you it TASTES SO MUCH BETTER!

McKinlee and the kitties

So! I'm down in Henrieville and I got the opportunity to switch photo shoots with a gal down here, Janice Twitchell (I know her husband who graduated with my sister) Anyway! We get to her house and there are these cutest little kittens and McKinlee couldn't help but maul them to death.... A couple times I thought she was holding them much too close to the throat to allow them to breathe *LOL* BUT! The kittens didn't mind because they were purring every time I pulled them away to "readjust" Janice, thanks for taking McKinlee's pictures! We will definitely want some family ones when my hubby can be there!

Down in Henrieville

We've been in Henrieville since Saturday morning! It's been great fun and it's been a great break from the usual. luckily I can still work while I'm down here for my job, so I don't even need to take time off!

As you know, McKinlee loves to do wild things. She can't stand to go to sleep when so much fun stuff is going on all the time. Here's how grandpa FINALLY got her to sleep.

I love the view from my parent's front yard!!

McKinlee's way of playing the piano

Needless to say, McKinlee has found a way that she prefers to play the piano. I heard her pounding away a couple days ago and this is what I found. This is now a daily occurance and the only way she will play this piano. I wouldn't worry so much if my floors were carpet instead of wood. *LOL* She scoots all the way along the top deending on which sounds she wants to hear. Then she plunks away at the keys with a pen.

Thank you!

There have been a bunch of you that purchased gift certificates for our grand opening of Solase Massage and Oxygen Bar! Thank you so much! Things have been moving along amazingly and we have already done over 300 massages in 2 1/2 weeks. Life is so good right now, just really busy. Kendrick and I have traveled to Colorado on work, and then Nevada for fun ( no not Vegas!). Next week its New Mexico/Colorado and then Nevada again for a fireside I am doing out there. We feel really blessed to have such great friends and family that help us out when we are so busy. Thanks MOM for tending my kid 2 different weeks, and thanks DENISE for organizing my pantry and grocery shopping for me. I'd be lost without you guys! Hopefully things will slow down in August...
